PARENTING AND EMOTION REGULATION
The Power of Authoritative Parenting (C.U.F.F.)
C is for Clear
Assume nothing. Be clear about what you expect from your child and be clear what your expectations are regarding the management of your child's eating.
U is for Undisturbed
When you are calm and clear, it increases your child's confidence that what you are saying is the appropriate thing to do. Also, we don't want your child's eating to take control of your family. We want parents to remain at the helm, with children having more and more input as they age.
F is for Firm
Firm statements are said confidently, not in anger, not anxiously...just matter-of-fact and decisive. That is firmness.
F is for Funny
Humor has its place. Life is filled with pain. Pain makes life meaningful, strengthens our character and teaches us valuable lessons about ourselves. To survive and live a meaningful life, we need to step back and find joy and laughter in everyday life. Humor and laughter are needed for many reasons.
What are emotions?
Why do our emotions matter?
Knowing what you think and how you feel can help you make choices.
Knowing what you are thinking and feeling is also helpful in learning more about yourself.
