Basic Cost

The cost for the Duke Center for Eating Disorders Immersive Family Program for Selective Eating is $6,000 for the five-day program consisting of both individual and group therapy sessions for both children and parents.  Along with this, we also schedule appointments with the medical director for a physical assessment and with an occupational therapist who is very familiar with selective eating disorder.  These appointments are held at other Duke clinics and are charged separately.

Insurance

Our Center does not bill health insurance. There are services provided as part of this treatment week including education, individual counseling, family counseling, parent training, psychological testing, and meal support/exposure therapy that may or may not be covered by your insurance plan. Following receipt of these services, you will be mailed the insurance claims paperwork within 3-4 weeks so you may file claims to your insurance company for reimbursement. Because we do not file claims, it is necessary for you to contact your insurance company in advance to determine what types of services they will reimburse.

Listed below is a list of Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes your family may incur for mental health services during Immersive Week.  You may contact your insurance company with this information and they will be able to tell you if you will be reimbursed and at what amount.  It is important to mention to your insurance company that this is "out-patient" treatment.

90791 - Psych diagnostic evaluation

90834 - Psychotherapy, 45 minutes

90837 - Psychotherapy, 60 minutes

90846 - Family therapy w/o patient present

90847 - Family therapy w/patient present

90849 - Multi-family group psychotherapy

Basic cost includes the services listed above (multiple times per day, multiple days), education costs and an administrative fee.

In addition to the program fee of $6,000, appointments with a medical doctor and an occupational therapist will be arranged for you.  You will pay your insurance co-pay at these facilities and these clinics will bill your insurance directly.

A deposit of $1,840 (may fluctuate) is required four weeks prior to the start date and the balance of $4,160 is due on the start date at check-in.  Program deposit and balance amounts may fluctuate with different age groups and will not change the total fee amount of $6,000.

Before you arrive, we will conduct an intake interview by phone. If there are any additional services we think will be beneficial, we will tell you before you arrive, along with the associated costs.  Based on our prior experience, this is an unusual occurance and always optional.

The program schedule   is subject to change slightly based on ages of children
